On September 12, 2023, Unity revealed plans to introduce new installation-dependent fees effective January 1, 2024, impacting video game companies of all sizes. Regrettably, Unity made this decision without meaningful dialogue or negotiation with the industry. Although Unity contends that this policy will affect only 10% of the video game sector, we believe this estimation is inaccurate.
In response, we at AppQuantum choose to amplify the collective voice of professionals in the video game industry, including developers, game designers, artists, publishers, and others.
While we appreciate Unity's considerable contributions to the evolution of the video game landscape, we cannot stand by as numerous developers and businesses are being put at risk. As a gesture of solidarity with those affected by Unity's new policy, we are suspending all ironSource and Unity Ads monetization across our projects until the proposed changes are revisited.
Unity's recent announcement represents a troubling departure from the partnership ethos we expect from our game engine providers.
The video game industry has always thrived on open discourse and a shared passion for creation. We cherish this spirit and fervently hope it endures. Consequently, we urge all who resonate with our concerns to deactivate ironSource and Unity Ads monetization and to endorse this open letter.
We hope that Unity will heed our united appeal.
Warm regards,

And all who sign this letter, engage in other forms of protest, or simply stand in solidarity with the gaming industry.
